Strong fishing continues in the Charlottes

Queen Charlotte Islands Fishing Resorts - August 12, 2002

August has seen some strong salmon runs in the Queen Charlotte Islands with both Chinook and Coho showing up in good numbers. On the M. V. Charlotte Princess anchored at Langara Island, Chinook are averaging in the 30-35 lb. range with some in the high 40's and 50's. Coho are abundant in these waters and are in the 10-19 lb. range. Anglers are hooking into plenty of chicken halibut as well as cod.

Congratulations to Joanna Gollege and her husband Boyd who became both became Masterfishermen on a salmon double header. She earned her 3rd Masterfisherman hat with a 54 lb. salmon, but couldn't beat her husband's 56 pounder!
