"Pennell Point" strikes again
Langara Island Fishing Resorts - August 14, 2006
Hey folks. Cookie here again with more jibber jabber from the island of big fish.
The sun began to fall low in the sky and the wind calmed as Robert and Linda Baran slowly mooched their way around “Pennell Point” better known as the “pig farm” in Bruin Bay.
The silence was broken with a WHAM!! as a large Chinook took one of their gently twirling cut plugs with authority!
After a long struggle the large Tyee was netted and taken back to the ship for the weigh-in. The reliable MV Chartotte Princess scale strained under the weight of the beast and a new master fisherman was crowned — their Tyee weighed a beautiful 51 pounds. Congratulations to Robert Baran and to his trusted net-woman Linda.

Our long-time French Canadian group started their trip off with a bang today with most boats getting into a couple Chinooks and Cohos, including a 34 lb Tyee caught at Gunia Point. The fish were spread out at all the major points, but most of the action was at Gunia.
I helped a couple MV Marabell boats to a new bottom fishing spot off of Lacy Island and they quickly limited on 20 lb halis and lings after the west winds finally calmed down. As the Northern Resorts General Manager Martin Paish would say: it was “another unbeleivable day at Langara.”
