One Lucky Man...

Queen Charlotte Islands Fishing Resorts - July 25, 2011

As the General Manager for our Northern operations I have the luxury of being able to enjoy our operations a few times each season.

Just this past week I was able to enjoy the quite yet wild waters off of Kano Inlet at the MV Salmon Seeker. Then I was able to take a scenic float plane ride to Langara Island and Henslung Cove to enjoy the hospitality of the crew aboard the MV Charlotte Princess. I must say I was treated to world class service at both locations.

At the MV Salmon Seeker I was only able to stay for a day and a half but boy was it memorable. I enjoyed the amazing cuisine of Chef Alberto Barahona and the top notch guiding of Andy Doig. I rolled out of bed at 5 AM after being fed like a King the previous evening only to work off every calorie playing over 20 Chinook with one of our senior guides Andy. It was great to hear that all of the remaining trips on the MV Salmon Seeker were sold out and that we were going to be lengthening our season by adding 1 additional trip. If you have not been up to the MV Salmon Seeker this season then you better book for the final trip of the year as those available seats will be snapped up quickly.

After my brief stay at the Seeker I was off to Langara and the crew of the MV Charlotte Princess. Once again I was treated to some amazing meals by the Chef Brian Cook. After some business aboard the ship I was off to Coho and Andrews Point to check out the fishing. (A perk of the job) I have one word for the fishing “Epic”. There are Coho and pinks to keep your hands warm and then all of a sudden you tie into a nice Chinook and the battle is on. I found that a lot of the Chinook were hanging out near the bottom in 100 feet of water. So I fished deep for the Chinook (50 – 70 pulls) and a lot shallower for Coho and pinks (20 – 35 pulls).

If you have not made it up this season then you need to take the journey. Not only will you be treated like royalty you will enjoy world class fishing at two of the top fishing lodges on the coast.

Tight lines,
