Langara Island Fishing Report

Langara Island Fishing Resorts - July 12, 2006

Langara salmon fishing lodgeToday was by far the most productive day of the season, hands down. McPherson Pt to Langara Rocks was consitant throughout the entire day. Those anglers that fished in the area were able to be selective of the salmon they retained.

Most Chinook were in the twenty pound range at the 40 to 55 pull region. Cohos, still averaging around eight to ten pounds were found in the 15 to 25 pull range. Cohoe Pt and Gunia Pt also had minor bites, but failed in comparision to what McPherson offered. The deckhands will be cleaning fish into the wee hours of the morning…

Congratulations to John “Dirty D” Davis, who caught a 46 pound Chinook from the east side of Bruin Bay, an area the crew has referred to as “Pennel Point” in honour of Fishmaster Shawn Pennel on the MV Charlotte Princess. That’s yet another season’s record for the Marabell!

Fishmaster Shawn also lead a highly productive hali trip to the chicken ranch off the east side, breaking his curse of directing the guest to the TURBIT ranch (Fishmaster Marshall has had way better results at leading bottom fish adventures!). Most hali ranged in the 8 to 11 pound range, as most people prefered to limited out in within half an hour and return to the productive salmon fishing then be selective of hali sizes.
