Langara Fishing Update

Langara Island Fishing Resorts - July 27, 2006

Langara Island fishing lodgeGroup #17 arrived today to a lovely Queen Charlotte Islands summer day, bursting with anticipation.

The last boats left the dock by 1:30 PM and I was out on the water shortly after. I checked in with our 3 boats who started at Gunia Point and found they had all played or landed 20 lb plus Springs and quickly alerted the the other boats of a decent bite at Gunia. Since the action at the other east side points was slower, most boats eventually made their way to Gunia.

As I slowly cruised through the boats, seeing only the odd fish picked up I thought to myself, “I’ve brought all these boats over here and broke my own rule about not chasing the bite.”

Before I could worry myself any more… BOOM. Hook up here, hook up there, screaming reels and guests everywhere. The mêlée lasted for over 4 hours. Suddenly, boat #11 speeds back to the ship to weigh in their trophy Chinook at 42 lbs.

Many boats fought and released 4 chinooks or more with most being near or over twenty pounds. A few Tyees came into the Marabell as well. What an amazing first afternoon. I can’t wait to drop a line tomorow along with everybody else. So, to all a tight line and to all a good night.
