Langara Fishing Update
Langara Island Fishing Resorts - June 17, 2006
Southerly winds led to sloppy fishing conditions in the early morning, but those that persevered at Gunia Point were again treated to a nice first-light bite. The late morning saw a bite develop around McPherson Pt to No Name Pt, which saw many Chinook in the 20 pound range retained.
In the afternoon, winds retreated and anglers were rewarded with a steady bite from Andrews Pt to McPherson Pt in the Explorer Bay area.
Around 6:30pm, a school or Orca whales passed down the east side of Langara Island. In one instance, a pod took notice of a MV Marabell guest who was playing a Chinook. The Orcas got the advantage left the defeated fisherman with just the head of his catch and a few breath taking photos for his partner! Sorry everyone, there is no retention of Orca whales in Canada!

P.S. Captain Alec Provan caught a very large octopus at Ray Schindelka’s hali hole near Pillar Rock. “Thanks Ray!” says Alec.
