Langara Fishing Update
Langara Island Fishing Resorts - June 13, 2007Lacy Island has been productive recently for both Chinook and Coho. A stronger bite is happening today in Egeria Bay with plenty of Chinook coming in and the same is happening between the Lighthouse and Langara Rocks. Cohoe Pt is showing a stronger bite at the slack water times.
Weather has been the big story over the last week and has necessitated looking for new/not often fished areas in the lee of Langara Island. Areas such as SW of Cox Island have produced halibut in the 20-60lb range and Lingcod in the 10-25lb range. Rockfish are abundant as well. Gunia Pt has been slow butthere has been a decent bite from Marchand Reef to Bruin Bay.
Sockeye have been spotted between Lucy Island and the ships. A variety of whale species have come into the area for a visit: Humpies, Orcas and a few Minkies are giving the fisherman a show.
