Langara Fishing is Hotter Than Ever

MV Charlotte Princess - June 22, 2009

Hey folks, Cookie here again.

The fishing is still hotter than ever with the last two groups limiting out on salmon with many boats reporting 10 Chinook days. The average size is going up, with eight fish over 30 lbs. caught in the last couple of days.

Guinia and Boulder Points, fished shallow at 6-15 pulls, have been producing some big fish and at times a lot of fish. Coho and Andrews have been go to spots in the morning with non-stop Chinook and now Coho action. That’s right, the Cohos have shown up early and in force, keeping the action going all day long.

The bottom fishing has been solid with halibut being caught everywhere around the island. You could catch a hali every time you drop to the bottom off of Cohoe or McPherson points. Larger halis and lings are being caught off of Andrews point and the Lighthouse.
