Eight Tyees

Langara Island Fishing Resorts - July 29, 2007

This morning’s low slack tide yielded 8 Tyee-sized Chinooks between our two ships. The action centered around McPherson point with Dibrell Bay also coming on strong. McPherson Point has been the strongest producer around Langara Island in the past few days, with Chinooks coming anywhere from 80 to 250 feet deep.

A revival of the close-in fishing tradition is being lead by Kevin McKibbin and the Bob Wright group. Bob pulled two Tyees out of McPherson in the 7 to 15 pull range today.

Andrews Point has also been solid on the low slack tide but Cohoe Point has gone cold recently.

A new bottom fishing spot off of Lacy Island produced plenty of chickens and more than a few 40-60 pound halibuts. Bottom fishing continues to be strong off the Lighthouse. Sadly, the classic “Chicken Ranch” has become the “Turbot Farm.“

After performing some recon 11 miles east towards Masset, an Charlotte Princess boat has deemed that there are no fish there after being escorted back to our Henslung Cove moorage by both Fishmaster's Zodiacs.
