Big Fish Report: 62 pounder

MV Charlotte Princess - July 27, 2010

Well folks, three days ago we got a 44 lb. Chinook, a day later a 46 lb. Chinook and I knew it was only a matter of time before we got bigger. I would have been pleased to see a 48 or even a 50 pounder to get somebody on the Master Fisherman board. Jim Hoy provided the slab we were hoping to see, but he took it a step further.

Jim just weighed in a 62 lb. trophy silver-bright Chinook salmon, smashing the season’s record by 16 lbs.

He was fishing eight pulls right up against the kelp at Cohoe Point when he started the battle that he and his buddies, John Zoldan and Tom Chrisztopulosz, nervously endured for 45 minutes. I witnessed the whole thing and they did a great job. Congratulations boys.

Extremely tight lines,
